Oh baby, baby, baby please. 5.27.11

Hey,

I first got introduced to this band on the David Letterman Show in '08. I loved how they incorporated the cello and violin into indie rock song arrangements. Sort of a more folky and down to earth Arcade Fire but without the edginess. I then learned that in 2007 their original drummer had drowned under unusual circumstances and the band had decided to continue on and find a replacement. They're first major album, The Rhumb Line, is sprinkled with songs paying tribute to him and anyone listening to that album can feel the raw emotion that they were feeling at the time. Besides those songs paying tribute, there are some rock solid tunes that don't go in that same category. Can You Tell is a cute little boy-girl love song of sorts that is pretty damn catchy. Enjoy.
